In folk beliefs, it was not only seen as an omen of death, but also as a warning against sinful temptations—a soul lured by the light, which may ultimately lead to ruin. Some tales spoke of witches who could take the form of a moth, slipping unnoticed into homes and crossing the boundaries between worlds. Much like a moth circling a flame, the sculpture draws the gaze, playing with what is hidden and revealed.

Karkoszka builds tension between physicality and ephemerality, between literalness and abstraction. It is not merely a record of bodily presence, but a reflection on instinct, on reaction to stimuli, on the ambiguity of form that shifts its meaning depending on one’s perspective.
